Simon Kaye

Simon has been a Trustee of CRMI since 2016 with responsibility for healthcare.  He has been a GP in South Cumbria since 1988, and was a GP trainer for 15 years, and also led youth groups in Kirkby Lonsdale for 26 years.

He first visited Uganda in 2010 when Juliet asked him to do “doctor things” there. Since then he has led medical teams of various sizes – usually annually.

Over time the emphasis of the medical work has moved towards health education and now, post Covid, to supporting our team in Uganda to access and deliver health care using local providers.

When not working he likes walking with his dogs (and his wife Pauline, who is also a key member of the medical teams).

Last year Pauline and Simon climbed Kilimanjaro to raise funds for further education of sponsored children in Uganda who want to become health workers.
