In 2016 Pastor Sam Ssentongo, who looks after the part of our project at Nakaseke, started a new school based around his church in the nearby village of Timunah. He saw the need as 3 of the local schools had recently closed.
At the moment the school meets is temporary lean to’s build around the church and already has 40 pupils.
We are grateful to York Montessori School in Canada , who offered to raise $10,000 to build a more permanent structure and ended up raising $25,000. The money has covered not only the building, but the furniture as well.
The photograph above shows the new school building with the church behind; this photograph was taken in November 2017 and the school will be open after Christmas. In the photograph below is Pastor Sam and some of the pupils in the temporary lean to classrooms.
