Jane’s visit to Uganda was really successful and the children eagerly awaited Auntie Jane and her pump bags! They were greatly received and sponsors received letters of thanks from the children.
Our first group of 35 children and carers have travelled to Entebbe to take part in a HIV/Aids screening test. Although most of the results were negative, 3 of those children that tested positive are now enrolled on a government programme that enables them to receive free drugs, health care and educates them to lead a healthier life style.
Mabel Kibirige, Thomas’s wife, is now employed as our child liaison officer; each week she visits the children and their families to check on the care they are getting and to assess their individual needs. Each month she sends a report to Jane at the office here in England, so that we are aware of any changes in each child’s circumstances.
