A number of sponsors have asked about how things are in Uganda and so we wanted to share this update with you.

John Bunjo, the leader and visionary of the charity, was able to reschedule his flight and returned home from the UK early. He and his family are all safe and well as are the rest of the Ugandan team, all our sponsored children and their families at this time,

There have been 14 reported cases of COVID-19 in Uganda, as at 25/3/20. Sadly, that total includes an 8 month old baby. Uganda has closed its borders, church services and public gatherings have been banned and children sent home from school.

Whilst the pandemic’s health impacts are just emerging in Uganda, another crisis has developed. Since the first case was reported there has been panic buying and food prices have soared. Rising food prices have compounded the impact of children being kept from school and missing the vital nutrition they receive whilst there.

We have put in place the following emergency parcels to help our sponsored children and their families as well as other vulnerable people in our care.

Basic food supplies as available e.g. posh, beans – £30 should buy a 50kg sack which will feed a family for a week

Bars of soap for hand washing – £2

Jerrycan for extra water storage – £5

We know that things are difficult everywhere right now, but this is a really practical and potentially lifesaving thing you can do for a modest sum. If you can contribute for your sponsored children and their families, we will make sure they know these supplies are coming to them with your love and concern for their wellbeing. In addition, any funds collected beyond what is directly needed by your family will be put to work where it is needed most within our community in Bombo.

Any amount you can contribute, whether less or more, would be greatly appreciated. In faith, we have sent what we can to Uganda this week to get things started while food is still available.
