We have been amazed by the skills, time, training and hard work that many individuals and groups have put in to raising funds for the many different projects that the charity supports in Uganda. This year there have been car washes, half marathons, craft and bake sales, cafes and tea parties. Thank you to everyone who has taken part in these events and also to those who have donated.
On September 18th a fantastic group of generous and big hearted people from Nationwide Building Society and Dove Nest are raising money by walking up Scafell Pike (the highest mountain in England) to help build a new classroom block at Salvation Way Primary School in Bombo.
Peter G (one of the team of walkers) writes: ‘These children have big dreams, ambitions and smiles but they need a start in life – and this is something we can help to give them. Education holds the key to a better future. For me, walking up Scafell Pike will be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done as I’m not really built for speed or going up steep mountains! However, I believe passionately in this cause and have seen for myself on my visits to Uganda the transformation a good education can bring to individuals, families and communities.’
